Time to give VT some credit

Sorry for the delay in posts, but I had a bit of a drive back to my hotel tonight, and yes, I am aware of what is going on in Lincoln, Neb. The scrappy Hokies traveled to this tradition-laden town and are leading, 28-23, in the fourth quarter.

If Virginia Tech hangs onto this, I'll give them credit for getting the job done, even though Dustin Keys is the Hokies' MVP and they got two points on a safety and Tyrod Taylor still hasn't thrown for a touchdown.

No, really, I'm giving them credit.

Darren Evans scored two rushing touchdowns, so it looks like they're developing some consistency with him.

Considering what happened in the rest of the league today (Miami, Clemson, Wake Forest all losing), the Hokies are looking good right now. It might not be pretty, but Frank Beamer and his staff are doing a heck of a lot more with a heck of a lot less than Tommy Bowden and his guys have to work with.

If they can keep Nebraska at bay -- and the Cornhuskers are still hanging around -- the Hokies would be 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Not bad.

They've got about seven minutes left to hold off Nebraska.
