USA Today report: Coaches' salaries

Posted by ESPN.com's Heather Dinich

USA Today released a report on coaches' salaries, and considering some of the records in the ACC this year, these numbers don't exactly fit the bill right now. Three of the ACC's five highest-paid coaches have losing records. If you get what you pay for, then ACC fans, boosters and athletic directors should be expecting more. Especially in Tallahassee. And Maryland may as well be throwing its money into the Potomac. The one school that is getting paid dividends for its investment? Georgia Tech.

Here are the current ACC salaries, according to USA Today:

Bobby Bowden: $2,319,375 (base $565,875) -- record: 4-5

Paul Johnson: $2,300,000 (base $325,000) -- record: 9-1

Jim Grobe: $2,172,127 (base $333,333) -- record: 4-6

Frank Beamer: $2,138,000 (base $272,328) -- record: 6-3

Al Groh: $2,072,339 (base $291,700) -- record: 3-6

Ralph Friedgen: $1,877,095 (base $267,468) -- record: 2-7

Butch Davis: $1,702,000 -- record: 6-3

Tom O'Brien: $1,200,000 (base $625,000) -- record: 4-5

Dabo Swinney: $816,850 (base $250,000) -- record: 6-3

The salaries for David Cutcliffe, Frank Spaziani and Randy Shannon weren't available because they coach at private schools, and the private schools don't have to make those numbers available and so they never do.
