Wake kicker questionable for Clemson game

Wake Forest could be without punter/placekicker Sam Swank, who strained his right quad in practice on Monday, for Thursday night's game against Clemson.

This is obviously a huge blow for the Demon Deacons because they're going from one of the most veteran kickers in the country to a former walk-on, Shane Popham, who hasn't kicked in college yet. But those within the program are still confident in Popham and their chances against Clemson.

The bigger concern for the Deacs is just how long-term the injury could be. A quad injury for a kicker could be serious and limits his range of motion. With how close not only the league standings are, but the game themselves, a veteran kicker will continue to be a key component in keeping Wake Forest at the top of the Atlantic Division standings.
