Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops and Alabama linebackers coach Sal Sunseri appear to be the front-runners for Florida State's next defensive coordinator, but Jimbo Fisher still has a few other candidates in the mix.
Fisher can't go wrong with either choice, as both have plenty of experience he'll be able to rely on. Stoops is in his sixth season with Arizona and spent three at Miami, so he knows what the expectations are at a program like FSU. Sunseri came to Alabama from the Carolina Panthers, and previously was at Michigan State and LSU. As a former linebacker for Pitt, Sunseri has experience at every level of the game.
Bobby Bowden has said that the current staff will coach the Gator Bowl, but the next phase for Florida State football should immediately follow. If Fisher keeps bringing in players and coaches whose reputations precede them, it shouldn't be long before the program is a contender again.
