15-1: Are Jets fans delusional?

Expectations for the New York Jets couldn't be much higher among their frothing fans.

ESPNNewYork's Jane McManus writes about a recent SportsNation poll in which fans were asked to pick the winners for each of the Jets' 16 regular-season games.

The consensus has the Jets finishing 15-1, the greatest record in franchise history.

"Who'd we lose to?" Ryan asked.

The only game the Jets aren't projected to win is Week 12 against the New England Patriots in Gillette Stadium.

In fact, Jets fans harbored negligible doubt on most games. They were so sure on 12 of the victories that at least 80 percent agreed. Five games generated at least 90 percent harmony of triumph.

The three games they were most certain to win, strangely enough, are on the road: Week 4 at the Buffalo Bills (98.4 percent), Week 8 at the Detroit Lions (99.3 percent) and Week 9 at the Cleveland Browns (98.5 percent).

Even a presumably meaningless game in Week 16 against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field -- the Jets would've wrapped up home-field advantage by then and be resting some starters, right? -- generated 87.0 percent of the vote for victory.

There's one narrow victory predicted. At home against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5, a relatively modest 50.6 percent had the Jets winning.

Ryan said, "15-1, I'll actually take that; 15-1, Jets fans are smart. We'll go ahead and take that. I don't want to be too greedy."

But as Ryan walked away, the prediction seemed to sink in.

"Man," Ryan said, "that's some expectations."
