Hargrove reinstated by NFL

Former St. Louis and Buffalo defensive end Anthony Hargrove has been reinstated by the NFL after serving a one-year suspension in 2008, according to a league source.

Hargrove was the Rams' third-round pick in 2004 and finished the 2005 season with five sacks in his final three games. But the Rams traded him to Buffalo in 2006, not long after he skipped two days of practice. His troubles continued when the league suspended him four games in 2007 for violating its substance abuse policy.

Despite his off-field problems, chronicled in this NFL.com report, Hargrove was a proficient pass rusher and also well-liked by teammates. Given the dearth of pass rushing in the league, it seems likely that several NFL teams will investigate his rehabilitation.
