New York Jets superstar Darrelle Revis wants to be the NFL's highest-paid cornerback. He doesn't need to obliterate the record-setting contract the Oakland Raiders gave Nnamdi Asomugha. Revis merely wants to edge him out by a couple quarters.
"I can give Darrelle the 50 cents if he wants it," Asomugha joked with ESPN "First Take" host Dana Jacobson on Friday.
Asomugha and Revis are buddies. Remember when Asomugha told me he and Revis were lobbying Jets head coach Rex Ryan to make a trade that would bring them together?
Asomugha said he spoke to Revis as recently as last week and they didn't talk about contracts.
"That's not a competition thing for me," Asomugha said.
"I don't think much about it. People are always trying to earn their money in the league. If someone wants to be the highest paid at a certain position and think they're owed that, that's fine. ... It's good when someone wants to get a raise, however they want to do it."
