Bill Belichick launched New England Patriots training camp Thursday morning with a news conference to discuss the team's myriad issues heading in.
ESPNBoston.com reporter Mike Reiss was on the scene and has posted a blog item highlighting Belichick's opening Q&A.
The most insightful quote to me dealt with receiver Wes Welker, whom the Patriots opted to place on the physically unable to perform list despite excitement over his fast recovery from knee surgery. Belichick offered some words of restraint.
"It's a long rehab," Belichick said. "You go through different stages of it. I think the last 10 to 20 percent of those injuries is the hardest part to get back. So we'll see how it goes."
