Jets, Revis camp go into deep cover

Given the rising rancor between the New York Jets and cornerback Darrelle Revis' camp, this probably is a smart strategy.

The Jets on Thursday afternoon issued a joint statement with agents Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod:

"Both parties have had conversations to clear the air and will continue to negotiate with the hopes of reaching an agreement. From this point forward, all discussions regarding these negotiations will remain confidential."

Probably not a coincidence this was disseminated a half-day after some revealing moments from general manager Mike Tannenbaum and head coach Rex Ryan on Wednesday night's season premiere of "Hard Knocks."
