Miami Herald columnist Armando Salguero has an interesting item about Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland's contract.
Salguero reports Ireland's deal with the Dolphins was amended before the surprising announcement days before the season opener that Bill Parcells was stepping down as executive vice president of football operations.
Salguero, citing multiple unnamed league sources, writes Ireland now answers directly to owner Stephen Ross with nobody in between. Ireland, of course, used to answer to Parcells, who now is merely a "consultant" with the club.
But this report would seem to nullify that move. If Ireland answers only to the owner, then another football operations executive wouldn't be in the chain of command.
