FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Two sources have informed me the New England Patriots are considering Andrew Walter instead of Cleo Lemon to compete for their No. 2 quarterback job behind Tom Brady.
Walter has a tad more game experience than Lemon, who is almost three years older.

Walter started nine games in his four seasons with the Oakland Raiders. The early third-round pick out of Arizona State started eight times as a rookie in 2006. He completed 53.3 percent of his passes for 1,677 yards and three touchdowns with 13 interceptions.

The next year, the Raiders selected Louisiana State quarterback JaMarcus Russell first overall.
