ESPNNewYork.com reporter Rich Cimini has updated Monday night's story about the New York Jets working out a kicker Tuesday as a possible replacement for the erratic Nick Folk: The unrevealed veteran Kris Brown, the former Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans and (for three games this year) San Diego Chargers kicker.
Brown is in his 12th season. He has made 77.3 percent of his field goals, 69.9 percent from 40 to 49 yards away and 53.3 percent from 50 yards and farther.
If the Jets sign Brown, he could have a chance to sting the New England Patriots on Monday night. He failed in an opportunity to make the Patriots pay for a controversial decision to go for it on fourth down from their own 49-yard line against the Chargers in Week 7.
Brown, in his first game as an injury replacement for Nate Kaeding, hit the right upright on a 50-yard field goal attempt with 22 seconds left to play. Had Brown made the kick, the game at Qualcomm Stadium would have gone into overtime.
