We have a few notes to pass along in the AFC East.
First, as expected, New York Jets center Nick Mangold will not play Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Mangold suffered a high-ankle sprain and said he was preparing to play. But the injury takes several weeks to heal, and it was a long shot Mangold wouldn't miss at least one game.
For the New England Patriots, safety Patrick Chung is out after thumb surgery this week. New England is thin at safety entering its game against the Buffalo Bills.
Finally, Patriots defensive end Andre Carter was fined $15,000 for leading with his helmet on a hit to San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. Carter plans to appeal the fine.
