Here are the most interesting stories Friday morning in the division:
Are the Miami Dolphins contenders in the AFC East?
Morning take: The defense is solid, but I don't see how the offense can keep up to win enough games. Perhaps if David Garrard or Matt Moore plays lights out, Miami can contend. But I don’t see it happening for the Dolphins this year.
Buffalo Bills receiver Stevie Johnson (groin) is making progress and is eager to return for minicamp next week.
Morning take: Groin injuries are tricky, so Johnson needs to be careful. There’s always the risk of re-straining the injury. It’s probably best that Johnson doesn't get too many reps too soon in minicamp.
New York Jets defensive lineman Kenrick Ellis will report to serve his 45-day jail sentence on Friday for misdemeanor assault and battery.
Morning take: Ellis' sentence could cause him to miss the start of training camp. But the focus right now for Ellis should be getting mentally prepared to spend the rest of the summer in jail.
Here is some insight on the New England Patriots potentially using a fullback more this season.
Morning take: The Patriots need to run the ball this year with youngsters Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley. Perhaps a fullback can help this duo get those tough yards on obvious running downs.
