Morning take: No bye for the Patriots?

Here are the most interesting stories Monday in the AFC East:

  • The New England Patriots (10-4) no longer control whether they are one of the top two seeds after a 41-34 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Morning take: The Denver Broncos (11-3) keep winning and now is the favorite for the No. 2 seed. The Patriots could be playing in the wild card round against a team like Pittsburgh, Cincinnati or ... the Jets?

  • Speaking of the Jets (6-7), they got a big assist when the Dallas Cowboys beat the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-7).

Morning take: New York has to win out and still needs more things to go its way. But the Jets are still in it if they can beat the Tennessee Titans on “Monday Night Football.”

  • Were the Seattle Seahawks wrong to go for a fake punt while leading the Buffalo Bills by 30 points in the fourth quarter?

Morning take: It’s not the nice thing to do, but football is not a nice game. The Bills didn’t show up and got their tails kicked for four quarters. The last thing they should worry about is a fake punt late in the game.

Morning take: Bush had his first 100-yard rushing game since Week 2. But the question is how much is Miami willing to pay to keep the pending free agent?
