Morning take: Will Holmes restructure?

Here are the most interesting stories Monday in the AFC East:

  • ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the New York Jets want to restructure the contract of receiver Santonio Holmes.

Morning take: That's ideal, but will Holmes cooperate? He is due at least $7.5 million guaranteed next season. Holmes is coming off an injury and it's probably wise that he doesn't take less money.

Morning take: That would be a silly move for Green Bay, but it is an option. It would cost Green Bay $10.4 million against the cap and hinder some other players Aaron Rodgers to get long-term extensions. Jennings most likely hits free agency. Miami will be watching this closely.

  • The New England Patriots, at No. 29, are going depth over star power at the NFL draft.

Morning take: This is a good year to do it. This is not a top-heavy draft, but there will be good value at the end of the first rounds. We will have more on the draft and combine later today.

  • Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib has been working out with former NFL coach Paul Hackett.

Mornint take: Hackett is the father of Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. I assume the two talk regularly about the chances of bringing Nassib to Buffalo.
