Next week ESPN.com will hold its annual blogger mock draft. The AFC East blog once again opened up a forum for our community to put together a joint draft board.
Analysis: I was surprised how many Jets fans wanted Warmack. The Alabama alum is one of the top guard prospects of the past 10 years and earned the top spot on our final board. Mingo is a prospect I really like and the Jets really like drafting defensive ends who can rush the passer. It’s a natural fit for New York. The Jets also desperately need offensive skill players. I like Patterson more for New York than Austin, since the Jets have a similar smallish slot receiver in Jeremy Kerley. But both made the final board.
Analysis: The Patriots are difficult to predict at the end of the first round. But one obvious need is wide receiver, which is why three receivers made both my draft board and the community board. Hunter of Tennessee was the unanimous choice for New England. Trufant also is a cornerback who plays hard and would fit well in New England’s secondary. The biggest difference is I like Woods of USC better than Hopkins of Clemson for New England. However, Hopkins was the second-highest choice from Patriots fans and made the cut.
