Lyons, who now serves as the color analyst on Jets game broadcasts on ESPN NY 98.7 FM, is the 13th player to receive this honor.
Jets chairman and CEO Woody Johnson, president Neil Glat and general manager John Idzik were on the field for the ceremony, along with Lyons' family, and fellow Ring of Honor members Larry Grantham, Winston Hill, Don Maynard, Joe Namath, Joe Klecko, Freeman McNeil, Wesley Walker, Mark Gastineau and Curtis Martin.
Lyons addressed the crowd, and thanked the fans for their support. "You guys have been absolutely incredible," Lyons said. "You are the game of football. You make it special."
A former first-round draft pick, Lyons, No. 93, played for the Jets from 1979-1989. In 147 games over 11 seasons, he recorded 43 sacks, as a member of the "New York Sack Exchange" with teammates Klecko, Gastineau and Abdul Salaam.
