Dolphins report: Mike Pouncey practices

DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins (5-6) continued their preparation for Sunday’s huge AFC East matchup against the New York Jets (5-6).

Here are some notes from Wednesday’s practice:

  • Dolphins starting center Mike Pouncey practiced for the second straight day. His chances appear strong that he will return from an illness that kept him out the past two weeks. The Dolphins will need Pouncey’s presence against the Jets and their No. 1-ranked run defense.

  • With Pouncey lined up at center, Nate Garner moved to left guard in the portion of practice open to the media. Garner started two games at center in Pouncey’s absence. Guard Sam Brenner goes to the bench.

  • Miami starting cornerback Dimitri Patterson (groin) spent time on the side working with trainers Wednesday. His status for Sunday’s game remains up in the air.

  • The Dolphins made a roster move. They promoted safety Jordan Kovacs to the 53-man roster and demoted D.J. Campbell to the practice squad.
