Bills add Fred Pagac to coaching staff

The Buffalo Bills continued to add to their coaching staff Friday night, announcing the hire of linebackers coach Fred Pagac.

Pagac most recently served as linebackers coach for the Minnesota Vikings. He was expected to have a chance to interview for a position under new Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, but has instead landed in Buffalo.

The Bills lost outside linebackers coach Jim O'Neil to the Cleveland Browns, where he became defensive coordinator, while they fired inside linebackers coach Chuck Driesbach.

Pagac, 61, has not worked with Bills defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, but he served as linebackers coach at Ohio State from 1982-95. Bills defensive line coach Pepper Johnson, who was also hired Friday, was coached by Pagac at Ohio State.

After Leslie Frazier was elevated to Vikings head coach during the 2010 season, Pagac oversaw the Vikings' defense, serving as defensive coordinator for the 2011 season. He was stripped of those duties after one season.
