Edelman: Revis great in the locker room

Patriots receiver Julian Edelman was a guest on NFL Network’s “Total Access” on Monday night, and here were a few of the sound bites of note:

On impressions of Darrelle Revis. “Darrelle is one of the best corners in the NFL and he showed that in camp. He did very well. He’s a very instinctive player. He’s great in the locker room, I like competing against him every day, and it’s good to have a player like that.”

On Tom Brady playing past his 40th birthday. “It wouldn’t surprise me. Knowing him the way I know him, I’m sure he’s probably just focused on this year. The guy’s in here, working hard, preparing to his fullest ability, takes care of his body. So you know he’ll definitely have a shot to do it.”

On the Patriots as a team. “We’re a lot better than before we started minicamp and organized team activities. It was good to go out there and compete against the defense. So it was an overall success to go out there and learn your team.”

NFL Network followed up Edelman’s segment with analysts Shawne Merriman and Curtis Conway debating which player is more important to the Patriots -- tight end Rob Gronkowski or cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Both went with Revis.
