Patriots claw within 3 points

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots finally have asserted themselves, and it's a brand new game.

Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel is starting to pick apart the New York Jets defense, cutting the lead to 24-21 at the end of the third quarter in Gillette Stadium.

Cassel completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Benjamin Watson thanks to Jets linebacker Calvin Pace falling down in the end zone. Cassel also found Watson for a two-point conversion, this time exploiting poor coverage from Jets cornerback Dwight Lowery.

Cassel has 326 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also has 44 rushing yards.

Momentum clearly belongs to the Patriots.

If the Jets blow this one, look out.
