Welker suffers torn ACL, MCL

Forget the playoffs.

New England Patriots slot receiver Wes Welker will be fortunate to return to normalcy before the start of the 2010 season based on a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefter, citing a source close to the situation, says Welker suffered torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans in Reliant Stadium.

Welker twisted his knee while making a cut after his only catch of the game. Welker led the NFL this year with 123 receptions.
