Tom Brady not spotted at practice for second straight day

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- With an extra day of practice this week leading into Monday night's game against the Miami Dolphins, quarterback Tom Brady is using the extra time for more treatment.

Brady was absent from the start of practice Thursday for the second straight day, which marks the first time this year that he has missed back-to-back practices. In the weeks leading up to the Nov. 26 game against Miami, and the Dec. 3 game against Buffalo, Brady was held out of Wednesday practices with what the team reported was an Achilles injury. Brady was removed from the injury report by Friday of each of those weeks and had said he never had concern about his availability.

The Patriots submit their first injury report of the week later on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the team held a full-pads practice in the Empower Fieldhouse with the heat turned up as they prepare for Monday's road game against the Dolphins. The team was back outside on Thursday, with Brian Hoyer taking all the quarterback repetitions.

Brady was present at the stadium and part of all meetings.

In addition to Brady, starting right tackle Marcus Cannon (ankle), starting linebacker Kyle Van Noy (calf) and defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr., (unknown) were not spotted at the start of the workout.
