AFC East 2010 schedules not so tough

The AFC East went into 2009 with four of the league's seven-toughest schedules based on their opponents' win-loss percentages from the season before.

As a result, the New England Patriots claimed the division title with 10 victories one season after failing to make the playoffs with 11 victories.

The AFC East's degree of difficulty is going to wane in 2010.

ESPN Stats & Information has calculated strength of schedule for every team, and three clubs -- the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets -- are in the middle of the pack.

They're tied for the 16th-toughest schedule with their opponents having a combined .500 record.

The Patriots, with a couple of extra games against this season's division winners, have the NFL's sixth-toughest schedule. Their opponents had a .531 win percentage.
