Dolphins on verge of pulling into first place

Posted by ESPN.com's Tim Graham
TORONTO -- If the halftime scores hold up, the Miami Dolphins will enter Week 15 tied with the New York Jets atop the AFC East.

The Dolphins were the only AFC East team with a halftime lead Sunday afternoon. They went into the break ahead of the Buffalo Bills 13-3 in the Rogers Centre.

I'm legally obligated to remind everyone the Dolphins were 1-15 last year.

Also at halftime, the San Francisco 49ers led the Jets 14-7. The Seattle Seahawks were ahead of the New England Patriots 14-10.

With a Dolphins victory and a Jets defeat, both would have 8-5 records. The Jets have the tiebreaker with a season-opening triumph in Dolphin Stadium, but they meet again Dec. 28 in the season finale.

Miami was the lone divisional winner last week.

Here are the AFC East standings if the halftime scores endure:

  • Jets 8-5

  • Dolphins 8-5

  • Patriots 7-6

  • Bills 6-7
