Pasqualoni from unemployed to playoffs

Even though the Miami Dolphins didn't qualify for the tournament, their defensive coordinator the past two seasons, Paul Pasqualoni, extended his streak of coaching the playoffs.

The Dolphins fired Pasqualoni on Monday, but he wasn't out of work long. The Dallas Cowboys hired him to be the replacement for defensive line coach Todd Grantham, who was announced as the University of Georgia's defensive coordinator Friday.

Grantham will finish his season with Dallas, but Pasqualoni already has been added to the staff. The Cowboys play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Pasqualoni was an assistant in Dallas for three years. Dolphins football operations chief Bill Parcells brought him aboard as tight ends coach in 2005 and switched him to linebackers coach a year later. Pasqualoni served in the same position under Wade Phillips for a season.

Pasqualoni went from Dallas to Miami along with head coach Tony Sparano and a few other assistants, including assistant head coach and secondary assistant Todd Bowles, who could replace Pasqualoni as Dolphins defensive coordinator.
