Nolan could end up as Dolphins' DC

Monday night the Denver Broncos announced the team and defensive coordinator Mike Nolan would part ways.

Now it appears the Dolphins are interested in having Nolan fill their vacancy at DC.

Sources close to ESPN's Adam Schefter say Miami has already requested an interview with Nolan, who transitioned the Broncos 3-4 defense this season, a unit that ranked seventh in the league. (Update: Sources tell ESPN's John Clayton, Nolan and the Dolphins are "close to an agreement.")

Nolan was Broncos coach Josh McDaniels' first hire, but lasted just one season. Nolan was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2005-08 and has served as defensive coordinator for the Broncos, New York Giants, Washington Redskins, New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens.

Additionally, Shefter reports that former Patriots defensive coordinator Dean Pees, who left the team last week, could reunite with McDaniels in Denver.
