Wilfork to Dolphins would be a 'dream'

Star nose tackle Vince Wilfork made a comment that likely will get New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins fans a little worked up.

Wilfork, a free agent on whom the Patriots likely will place a franchise tag, told South Florida Sun-Sentinel reporter Omar Kelly it would be a "dream come true" to play in Florida, although he stressed his desire to remain a Patriot.

Wilfork is from Boynton Beach, Fla., and played at the University of Miami.

"I love great weather," Wilfork said. "I love football. It doesn't matter where I play. I just want to have security for my family.

"I would love to stay in New England if I had the chance. I love New England because of my teammates, my family. My son, the friends and connections we've made up there, it's some great people up there. But if it doesn't work out I'll weigh my options I tell you that."

Wilfork would look good in a Dolphins uniform. They operate a 3-4 defense, and veteran nose tackle Jason Ferguson is a major question mark for 2010. Ferguson is 35 years old, his contract is up and he's recovering from a season-ending leg injury.
