AccuScore: Patriots will grind down Jets

The New York Jets comfortably won their first meeting with the New England Patriots at the Meadowlands.

But that was over two months ago. Much has transpired since then, giving AccuScore all sorts of additional data to crunch. The way the season has unfolded plus the Patriots' dominance in Gillette Stadium under Tom Brady makes them an unexpectedly healthy favorite to win Monday night's rematch.

AccuScore's 10,000 computer simulations had the Patriots winning 66 percent of the time by an average margin of five points.

Here's an even bigger surprise:

In the simulations, BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead averaged 5 yards a carry against the formidable Jets run defense, while LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene averaged only 3.5 yards against the NFL's 16th-ranked run defense.

If the Jets' defense can sack Tom Brady three times and force at least one turnover, then they become 56 percent favorites to win.

If the Patriots protect Brady and give up no more than one sack, then their chances shoot to 75 percent.
