NFL Power Rankings: AFC East

Week 12 had plenty of ups and downs for the AFC East. The division went 2-2.

Here is how those results affected this week's ESPN.com NFL Power Rankings.

New England Patriots (8-3)

Results: W, 38-20 against Philadelphia

Power Ranking: No. 6 (same)

Walker's vote: No. 6 (same)

Analysis: The Patriots put forth a dominating performance but didn’t budge in the rankings. They have the same five teams ahead of them this week. But New England has a chance to improve its standing in the next few weeks. The Patriots have the easiest remaining schedule and should be able to run off a string of wins while other top teams fall.

New York Jets (6-5)

Results: W, 28-24 against Buffalo

Power Ranking: No. 15 (same)

Walker's vote: No. 16 (same)

Analysis: It wasn’t pretty, but the Jets kept their season alive with a big win over Buffalo. It didn’t help in the rankings, though. New York needs a lot of help. But the Jets are controlling what they can control and have a pair of winnable games coming up against the Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs.

Buffalo Bills (5-6)

Results: L, 28-24 against Jets

Power Ranking: No. 19 (same)

Walker's vote: No. 21 (same)

Analysis: Buffalo played competitive football for the first time in a month. But it wasn’t enough after the Jets put together a clutch comeback in the fourth quarter. Buffalo is 2-6 in its past eight games. The Bills are all but out of the playoff race. It will be interesting to see if this team finishes the season strong.

Miami Dolphins (3-8)

Results: L, 20-19 against Dallas

Power Ranking: No. 26 (down one spot)

Walker's vote: No. 24 (down one spot)

Analysis: Miami dropped one spot after losing a close game to the Dallas Cowboys. The Dolphins’ defense is playing very well and will give a lot of teams problems down the stretch. It's kind of an odd time for Miami. The group is playing well but is expected to go through wholesale changes soon.
