Dolphins top pick Jared Odrick out

There's no such thing as a preseason All-AFC East team curse that I know of. But I better start tracking these things.

One of my bold picks was rookie defensive end Jared Odrick.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Odrick will miss Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings with a hairline leg fracture. Odrick was hurt in the third quarter of Sunday's season-opening victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Schefter, citing an unnamed league source, added no surgery would be needed, and Dr. Robert Anderson of Charlotte informed Odrick he would miss two weeks at most.

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network, meanwhile, reported Odrick will miss the next six weeks with a broken leg.

Miami Herald columnist Armando Salguero blogged Odrick's injury is of the week-to-week variety.

The Dolphins listed rookie Rob Rose second to Odrick at right end on their Week 1 depth chart, but they deactivated him for the game. Tony McDaniel was the backup to left end Kendall Langford.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have signed defensive end Lionel Dotson off the Denver Broncos' practice squad. The Dolphins drafted Dotson in the seventh round in 2008 but he didn't make the 53-man roster this year.
