In the spirit of Monday's "Remember last year?" post, the AFC North blog wants to give credit where credit is due.
Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl receiver Chad Ochocinco is known to say just about anything, and often that includes proclamations that make some people's eyes roll. Last week, for example, Ochocinco provided bulletin-board material for the Baltimore Ravens, who are getting a lot of preseason hype.
"We got better than them," Ochocinco said of his division rival. "They're not better than us. The Ravens? I mean, what have they done? They have some nice draft picks. But we have people that can come in right now and be effective."
Ochocinco also threw cold water on the Anquan Boldin trade and said the Bengals "destroyed" Baltimore's defense last season. But before you simply write off Ochocinco's comments, look back to last June when the flamboyant receiver made another bold prediction.
"It's going to be a great year; we're going to the playoffs," Ochocinco said.
Coming off a 4-11-1 season in 2008, many thought Ochocinco was crazy. Then the Bengals went on the field, swept the AFC North, and did exactly what Ochocinco predicted.
So props go out to Ochocinco for nailing last year's biggest prediction in the division. Whether he's correct for a second straight year -- with Cincinnati finishing ahead of Baltimore -- remains to be seen.
