Cleveland Browns fans who are tired of quarterback controversies will have to be patient for another year.
Here is the quote from Mangini, courtesy of the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
"I talked to both of them about that and was very clear. I said if they have any questions they can come and see me in terms of the competition and their opportunities. That's what I told them. They understand that."
This declaration isn't necessarily new. Mangini has indicated for the past two months that he isn't favoring either quarterback and refuses to name a starter. But with all the trade talk involving Quinn the past several weeks, the original message became lost in translation.
In other AFC North news from the owners' meeting, the "Hines Ward Rule" of making contact to the head on blindside blocks will now result in a 15-yard penalty. Last year Ward broke the jaw of Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Keith Rivers with what was a legal block to the head at the time.
