Morning take: Bart Scott takes high road

Here are the most interesting stories Tuesday in the AFC North:

Morning take: Credit Scott for taking the high road. He had seven successful years in Baltimore and fit right in with the Ravens during his time.

  • Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini says it's too early to declare the quarterback race over, despite Brady Quinn outperforming Derek Anderson in the preseason opener.

Morning take: It is interesting that, after claiming he would rotate starts in the first two preseason games, Mangini suddenly refuses to name Anderson the starter this week against the Detroit Lions. If Quinn starts two weeks in a row, consider this competition a done deal.

  • Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer (ankle) is expected to miss Thursday's exhibition game against the New England Patriots.

Morning take: Palmer needs the work but it's more important to stay healthy at this point.

Morning take: Trai Essex has taken over the right guard spot Stapleton left open and would have to compete for the job, but the more healthy offensive linemen the better.
