Morning take: Troy Polamalu rests

Here are the most interesting stories Tuesday in the AFC North:

  • Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu will rest his Achilles and sit out of practice until the end of the week.

Morning take: At this point in the season, Polamalu doesn't need many practice reps. It's better to have him close to 100 percent in what is sure to be a brutally physical playoff game against Baltimore.

Morning take: This line tells me these two teams are as even as it gets. The home team usually gets a few points, which is the only thing separating these two clubs.

  • NFL analyst Cris Collinsworth believes the Cincinnati Bengals are a "mortal lock" to win the AFC North in 2011.

Morning take: It's rarely a good idea to make next season's predictions this early. Collinsworth could have at least waited until the draft and/or free agency to make that call.

  • New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell will interview with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday.

Morning take: Fewell is the first defensive coach to formally interview in Cleveland. But I still believe, in the end, Holmgren will choose an offensive-minded coach.
