CINCINNATI -- The bad news is Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer missed his third straight preseason game Thursday night with a high ankle sprain.
The good news is Palmer could have played. In fact, a member of the Bengals coaching staff said Palmer lobbied to start.
Palmer has been practicing without restrictions for the past week or so and the Bengals believe he will be completely healthy for next Sunday's opener against Denver.
He basically is fully healthy right now. The bigger concern is rust.
Palmer missed 12 games last season with a bad throwing elbow and by next Sunday it will have been 30 days since he last played in a game.
