Morning take: Bettis bashes Steelers

Here are the most interesting stories Friday in the AFC North:

  • In a story that’s making headlines in Pittsburgh, former Steeler Jerome Bettis wasn’t shy to bash Pittsburgh’s running game.

Morning take: Bettis says he “loves the Steelers” but is just being honest in his assessment. We always appreciate non-bias in the AFC North blog.

  • The Baltimore Ravens are preparing for San Diego Chargers tailbacks LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren Sproles.

Morning take: Tomlinson has missed two straight days of practice with an ankle injury. If he can’t play that would really hurt San Diego’s depth.

  • Coming off an injury-plagued summer, Cleveland Browns backup tailback Jerome Harrison looks primed to return this week.

Morning take: Rookie James Davis now has a banged up shoulder. So perhaps it’s Harrison’s turn to spell Jamal Lewis.

  • Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga and Clay Matthews Jr. of the Green Bay Packers will have a USC reunion Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Morning take: Both first-year players are looking good early. For whatever reason, linebacker always seems to be an impact position for NFL rookies.
