Ravens' Ray Rice fined $7,500 for stiff arm

Even offensive players are getting their paychecks reduced these days.

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice told 105.7 FM in Baltimore that he was fined $7,500 for a stiff arm. An NFL spokesman confirmed Rice was fined for the Sept. 25 game at St. Louis.

It was a strange play because Rams cornerback Bradley Fletcher was flagged for a facemask on Rice. If anything, it appeared that Fletcher should have been penalized for a horse-collar tackle. While Fletcher was attempting to pull Rice down, the running back tried to break free with the stiff arm and apparently grabbed the facemask.

The NFL made stiff arms to the face a point of emphasis beginning in 2008.
