If the season ended today, there would be three teams from the AFC North that would reach the playoffs. The Ravens would start the postseason as the No. 2 seed (the Patriots have a better win percentage in conference games) and receive a first-round bye. The Steelers would be the No. 5 seed and the Bengals would be No. 6.
If the teams with the higher winning percentage win the rest of the matchups for the final six weeks, the Ravens would be the No. 3 seed and the Steelers would finish No. 5. The Bengals would be out of the playoffs.
If all the home teams won the remaining games, the Ravens would start the playoffs as the No. 2 seed. The Steelers would be No. 5 and the Bengals would be No. 6.
How do I know all of this? It's because ESPN has plugged in the playoff machine for the final six weeks of the regular season. You can see how the playoff seedings are affected by experimenting with different scenarios. Click on the link, bookmark it and thank me later.
