Sitting Roethlisberger was an easy call

The Steelers reportedly will sit quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for tomorrow's game. Resting Roethlisberger wasn't just the right decision. It was an easy one.

The Rams have the NFL's worst run defense. They are starting Kellen Clemens at quarterback after picking him up on waivers three weeks ago. This is a St. Louis team that has lost its past two road games by a combined score of 56-13.

The Steelers should beat the Rams with Charlie Batch, Dennis Dixon or even Kent Graham for that matter.

Pittsburgh still has a lot riding on its last two games. The Steelers could get the AFC's No. 2 seed if they win out and the Ravens lose at least once in the next two games.

But playing Roethlisberger only exposed him to further injury. You don't need to take such a risk against the 2-12 Rams.
