A method to Ed Reed's madness?

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Ravens safety Ed Reed addressed his critical comments about quarterback Joe Flacco to ESPN today, saying, "There's always a method to the madness."

"My teammates, I think and know they understand me as a player and as a teammate," Reed said. "I don't think they would take anything out of context what I said. If they do, it's got to be motivation to prove me wrong."

Reed went on national radio this week to say Joe Flacco was "rattled" in last Sunday's playoff game and "just didn’t look like he had a hold on the offense." The eight-time Pro Bowl safety said he left Flacco a voice mail last night and the quarterback texted him back, "I'm cool."

"I don't think I offended Joe in any way," Reed said.

Reed wasn't made available to reporters today. He will participate in a national conference call Thursday.
