Browns set pre-draft visit with QB Cousins

Add another name to the Cleveland Browns' list of potential 2012 quarterbacks: Michigan State's Kirk Cousins.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cousins will be among the 30 college prospects who will meet with team officials. Cousins, who is 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, finished as Michigan State's career leader in touchdown passes (66), passing yards (9,131), completions (723), and 200-yard passing games (26).

In the same report, the Plain Dealer confirmed scheduled pre-draft visits with wide receiver Justin Blackmon, quarterbacks Ryan Tannehill and Brandon Weeden, running back Trent Richardson, and cornerback Morris Claiborne. But those are the usual suspects for the Browns. Cousins was the name that jumped off the list.

The top three quarterbacks in the draft -- Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Tannehill -- have been projected to go in the top 10. That means Cousins and Weeden might get pushed into the bottom of the first round or early in the second. The Browns have three of the first 37 picks in the upcoming draft.

Others believe Cousins could slip out of the second round. ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. doesn't have Cousins ranked among his top 5 quarterbacks, and ESPN's Todd McShay doesn't have Cousins currently being taken in the first two rounds of his latest mock draft.

The Browns continue to voice their support for Colt McCoy, but it looks like he will get some competition from a rookie like Tannehill, Weeden or Cousins.
