Browns' preseason starting lineup

This is the depth chart on the Browns’ official release for their preseason opener:

WR Greg Little

LT Joe Thomas

LG Jason Pinkston

C Alex Mack

RG Shawn Lauvao

RT Mitchell Schwartz

TE Ben Watson

WR Mohamed Massaquoi

QB Brandon Weeden

FB Owen Marecic

RB Trent Richardson

Stat to remember: Little was the fifth rookie to have led the Browns in either receptions or receiving yards in a single season.

Best battle: Massaquoi hasn’t looked the same since taking that viscous hit from James Harrison. If rookie Josh Gordon can pick up the offense, he’ll have a shot at being the fourth rookie starter on offense.

Injury watch: Evan Moore, who is on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, is fourth on the tight end depth chart. He stands behind Watson, Jordan Cameron and Alex Smith.

LE Jabaal Sheard

DT Ahtyba Rubin

DT John Hughes

DE Frostee Rucker

SLB Scott Fujita

MLB D’Qwell Jackson

WLB Kaluka Maiava

LCB Joe Haden

RCB Sheldon Brown

FS Eric Hagg

SS T.J. Ward

Stat to remember: After leading the Browns with 8.5 sacks last season, Sheard could become the first player to lead the team in sacks in back-to-back season since Kamerion Wimbley in 2006-07.

Best battle: Hughes, the rookie third-round pick, gets the nod on paper over Scott Paxson, who has been taking most of the reps with the first-team defense. They’re fighting to fill in for Phil Taylor, who will miss at least the first six games with a torn pectoral muscle.

Injury watch: Chris Gocong’s season-ending Achilles injury has opened the way for Maiava. But rookie fourth-round pick James-Michael Johnson could push for playing time. Both could start the season because Fujita is facing a three-game suspension.
