The Bengals were able to shake the Curse of the Browns. The Steelers, however, weren't so lucky.
Losing to the Browns still means no playoffs for Pittsburgh, which committed eight turnovers in a 20-14 loss at Cleveland on Nov. 25. Since the Browns returned to the NFL in 1999, the Steelers have lost to Cleveland five times (1999, 2000, 2003, 2009 and 2012) and they failed to reach the postseason in each of those seasons.
The Bengals faced a similar streak against Cleveland. Before this year, the Bengals had never gone to the playoffs in the same year they had lost to the Browns. But that changed this season when the Bengals lost to the Browns on Oct. 14 and still managed to advance to the postseason. The last time the Bengals made the playoffs in the same year that they lost to Cleveland was 1988.
