Chat Rewind: Talking Flacco, Kelly, etc.

Some highlights from today's chat:

Walt (Cincinnati): Can Flacco demand Eli Manning/Philip Rivers money of (6yr/$92 mil) or is that figure too high for Flacco?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): It wouldn't surprise me if Flacco demanded more. Not saying he would get it. I expect the Ravens to put the franchise tag on him in February. Not sure if a deal gets done this year at all.

james nc [via mobile]: How strange was it steelers having No. 1 defense with the front seven taking year off? Seems defensive backs weren't as bad as some may have thought. What's your take?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): I would disagree that the front seven took the year off. Nose tackle Casey Hampton had one of his best years in recent memory. Inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons had a breakout season. And Brett Keisel and Larry Foote were more than solid.

Andre (Tallahassee, FL): Is Ray Lewis' heir apparent already on the roster or will the draft have to provide the answer?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): Ravens can get by with Jameel McClain and Dannell Ellerbe for the next couple of years.

Kelly (Finksburg, MD): If Joe gets a ring this year, is he in the "elite" list of QBs?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): Not on mine. The elite QBs for me are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers.

Greg (Cincinnati) [via mobile]: What's your take on Chip Kelly? Would you have been happy (for the Browns) if he went to the Browns?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): I consider Kelly to be a major gamble. I know the Browns wanted him and I would have been happy for the Browns to get the man that they targeted. That would have said a lot about the Browns to seal the deal with that guy. But Kelly has no NFL experience. He has the makings of being a bust.

ag (Bethesda,MD): What do you thin Joe Flacco has to do to be considered "elite"?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): I feel Flacco's career is very similar to Eli Manning. They are both inconsistent but both win. Eli isn't considered elite after winning two Super Bowls. So, I'm not sure Flacco can do anything to make people believe that he's elite.

Richard (Wales, UK) [via mobile]: Do you see Andy Dalton as a playoff winning quarterback in his Cincinnati future?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): Dalton has to play a lot better than his first two playoff games. To answer your question, yes, Dalton has what it takes to win playoff games. Is he capable of taking the Bengals to the Super Bowl? Based on what I've seen so far, I would say no.

Michael [via mobile]: I am glad Eagles fans get to experience Chip Kelly, not Cleveland. All that NFL experience Chip Kelly brings to the table.

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): That's the biggest question surrounding Kelly. Never played or coached in the NFL before. His previous coaching stops were at Columbia, New Hampshire and Johns Hopkins. That's good if you're hiring a doctor, not an NFL coach.

Alex (Baltimore): How much are they paying Chip Kelly?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): I heard that it is at least $6 million per season. My guess is that it's a lot more.

Auto44Short (FL): JH thanks for putting up with us. I know we can be a tough crowd. My question is could you give us your thoughts on what you think the Bengals needs are for this upcoming draft?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): The Bengals need ... Linebacker, whether it's inside or outside. Rey, Howard and Lawson are all UFAs. Safety, after fill the hole next to Reggie Nelson. Speedy running back. BJGE provided more big plays than expected but Cincy needs explosion in the backfield.

Nick (Chicago): Who needs Chip Kelly when you can have Rob Chudzinksi...right? Right?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): At least the Browns know Chud wants to be in Cleveland.

Basballguy (Arlington, TX): If you'd admit the Ravens are your favorite team, we wouldn't give you such a hard time.

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): My team was the Colts before they left in the middle of the night to Indy. Not that I'm bitter.

Michael (Athens, OH): What do you think of Derek Anderson coming to the Browns? Should coach chud even answer that call?

Jamison Hensley (ESPN): I would change my number.
