Marvin Lewis picks Ravens over 49ers

The last time the Ravens reached the Super Bowl, Marvin Lewis was the coordinator for one of the best defenses in NFL history. Lewis' defense didn't allow a touchdown in the 34-7 win over the Giants as the Ravens hoisted the Lombardi Trophy 12 years ago.

It probably doesn't come as a surprise that Lewis, now the head coach of the Bengals, is picking the Ravens to beat the 49ers in this year's Super Bowl. But he doesn't believe Baltimore will win with defense this time.

"I like Baltimore's chances," Lewis said, via the team's official website. "I think they have the ability to strike the ball over the top that other than with the tight end, San Francisco probably doesn't have. I think their vertical passing game, in my opinion, gives them the edge."
