A weekly examination of the Browns' ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 28 | Last week: 20 | ESPN.com Power Rankings since 2002
The Cleveland Browns moved to No. 16 in this week’s rankings, but where they’re ranked this week might not matter as much as next week. Make no mistake, the Browns are happy to be on a steady climb -- from 31 to 25 to 20 to 16 this week. It reflects the way they’ve been playing, and it reflects that they are winning. At last.
But the way they play from this point forward will be more reflective of the rankings as the season moves on. Brian Hoyer was the player most responsible for the improvement in the rankings. He’s now out for the season with a torn knee ligament. Brandon Weeden, who lost the two games he started, is playing again.
Hoyer showed the Browns have the talent around the quarterback to win games.
Now it’s up to Weeden to keep them winning.
