For the second consecutive year, the Cincinnati Bengals grabbed a linebacker from USC on the first day of the NFL draft.
With the 38th overall pick in the second round, Cincinnati selected inside linebacker Rey Maualuga. He dropped from an expected mid-to-late first-round pick to early in the second round. Cincinnati went for value with Maualuga.
Maualuga joins former college teammate Keith Rivers in Cincinnati, which could turn out to be a dynamic pair of up-and-coming linebackers. Earlier Saturday, Cincinnati selected Alabama offensive tackle Andre Smith in the first round with the sixth overall pick.
