Texans seek interior push from Mitchell

With one fantastic end in Mario Williams and another good one in Antonio Smith, the Texans need to be better in the middle of the line.

They hope Arizona’s Earl Mitchell, a Houston native selected 81st overall in the third round, will be able to help.

Mitchell ran the best defensive tackle 40 at the combine and covered 10 yards in 1.56 seconds. If it translates to speed off the ball, the Texans may finally have a penetrating interior lineman who can occasionally flush a quarterback into Williams or Smith and periodically take down the signal-caller himself.

Ideally Mitchell will start in the middle ahead of Shaun Cody and help Amobi Okoye finally get closer to his potential.
